Wolf Shifters are supernatural beings. In the canon for the world in which my shifters live, they differ quite a bit from many popular or traditional werewolf concepts.
1. They have two forms, human form and wolf form. They do not have that half man-beast form that is so popular in many venues.
2. They are relatively immortal like vampires. They can be killed but it is a lot harder and barring such circumstances, they do have lives spanning many centuries.
3. They have high metabolisms, thus they need to eat large meals, and primarily meals with high portions of meat. Their higher metabolisms also mean they tend to have higher body temperatures than humans.
4. They are susceptible to silver. It will cause burns to exposed skin, and can effectively poison them if internalized.
5. They have heightened senses and considerably greater speed and strength than humans do.
Social structure-
Many wolf shifters are part of a pack, but it is definitely not uncommon for a wolf shifter to remain solitary rather than being with a pack.
Within a pack, the wolves adhere to a very clear hierarchy. The Alpha is the leader, with the beta being the second in command. Betas may take temporary leadership of a pack should the Alpha be absent, or unable to lead due to illness or severe injuries. If the Alpha is present, the beta's duty is to assist in protecting the pack and primarily the Alpha's mate if they have one, or any young within the pack or those who are unable to fight for themselves.
